Hi everyone! My name is Chris. I am in 7th grade and I live in Florida and I am doing a report on how to power a station in Antartica using only renewable energy. Could you tell me how you guys do it? Thank you so much for your help. Stay warm! Chris
Chris from Florida Apr 23, 2010 // 12:22 pm
I have never really taken an interest in global warming etc until today. I went to a forum meeting and met a lady who had been on the expedition to 2041 and i was totally blown away with what she had to say.It has made me consider what i do for my carbon footprint..
I wish you all the luck in the world. I only hope that future generations learn from what foundations you manage to lay down.

Hi,
hope you all are good and well. I am from United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. i will be on the expedition in november. i think we will stop by at the Ebase. It will be very nice to meet you all and see your work that you have been doing for the last years.
I wanted just to pass by on the net and check if you all need any thing from town before coming there. Wish you all the best, and i look forward to meet you all in person.
Thank you,

Hello Ebase. We are 3G a class at Rhiwbina Primary School in Cardiff. We have been using your website to learn more about Antarctica and how to stop glabal warming.
We were wondering, what type of penguins live near you?
Class 3G Mar 31, 2009 // 4:27 am
Hi Jamie, Finally looked at the things that you have been doing on a rainy night in London. I expect you have been told this a lot already, but this is a phenomenal project and great resource that you have created. I will be using it in a lesson next week when I am being observed. Of course, if it goes badly I will blame you, but if it goes well I will take all the credit! Really looking forward to hearing all about it over a pint in a hopefully significantly warmer climate back home. Well done to you and all of the team and have a safe journey back, Teresa

Hi Stuart Have enjoyed the Team’s great adventure. We feel really guilty as we prepare to fly to Florida and the carbon footprint we are responsible for!! However we are great recycling enthusiasts, trying to do our bit for the enviroment. Feel free when you return to the UK with the penguin and volcanic rock, to erect a Wind Turbine in our back garden(the blades the right way round),we will be the envy of our neighbours!
Enjoy the next leg of your amazing journey.

It is hard to express the joy I get from seeing your despatches. When I designed and built my first wind turbine in 1985, I had no idea that it would come to the fore in this way, and, indirectly, play such a significant part in - is it too dramatic to say? - ’saving the planet’.

Hi Guys Me again Just want to say I have throughly enjoyed the daily video updates and it’s nice to see that you’ve got to visit the local wildlife, producing a very moving, inspiring film on protecting such a fragile environment.
The 8 holiday makers are on their way so it will all be over very soon, but the memories and hopefully the commitment to protecting Antartica will last a life time.

Very well done to a great team - have been enjoying all the footage but without sound. None of the hotels in Costa Rica or Ecuador came with speakers ! Looking forward to the real deal when I get back to blighty on 19th and can watch with the talkies with music too. Meantime, spending the odd hour on Miami Beach where the temp is an unseasonal mid 80’s. Just off for a couple of caipirinhas and a 22oz “bife de ojo” at the local grill. To Jamie and team,
my class are loving your adventure, they come in every lesson and ask for an update. Especially the bit about the flights, they were really excited to see if you made it to antarctica. They think it’s a bit like big brother! The videos are excellent and just the right amount of time to capture their attention without taking up the whole lesson. I think there is a new year 7 science club in the making after easter. Keep up the good work, we are watching!!

Justin,
I don’t get your Layers video. You talk about the importance of layers, and then you do an experiment, which is looking at the thermal properties of different materials, and has nothing to do with layers. Why not do an experiment looking at the effect of layers? Or, why not give an explanation as to why layers are useful (trapping air, which is an insulator).
Have fun,
Kris

Jamie,
just had a look at the lessons on 2041 and will be using them this week. Writing a new year 7 scheme called extinction and finding this all very useful. Just finishing continental drift and then moving onto habitats and adaptations. You have until Thursday to get to antarctica and video yourself interviewing a penguin. No pressure. We will be following the site every lesson for the next few weeks and I will try and get my lot (Belmont Comp) to ask some questions for you and the team.

Hi Russell, I enjoyed the tour round Punta Arenas, you could all get jobs as tour guides, you will get to Antarctica soon, and I know you will all really enjoy yourselves, and learn so much too, I love watching the videos, wish I’d had the computer last year. The rubbish is still there in next doors back garden, I think they’re saving it. Love and miss you loads son.

Hey Justin and the rest of the E-Base team,
Really hoping you get your flight out to Antarctica soon, it’s very frustrating even for us sitting in our comfy homes, let alone for you guys, and the smell of days old socks and pants must be really overpowering by now!!
Keep smiling anyway, I’m sure you’ll be out there soon enough, and it’ll be worth the wait I’m sure!

Hi Just and colleagues, Hope you are on your way now…but if not…..Kristian said you were quite adept in a pedalo Justin ……any for hire in La Punta? We´re sending you all some biological AERIAL for socks and underwear, cos we think you will need it by now! You don’t want to know but its a lovely day here, up to 22 degrees at 10am. Still working on bathrooms and gravelled the back garden yesterday.Do they need any gardens gravelling down there or is there too much snow? Would put ourselves forward for the next expedition but I think “anno domini” would prevent us.Love Mum and Barry

Just saw groundhog - at least you have internet connection rather than single-bar phone signal standing on one leg by the bridge 8 hours from the nearest airport. Fingers crossed for flight - perhaps a prayer flag for patron saint of planes and good weather. Remember what every community needs - and the first things you need to set up when you aget there - are a teahouse, a clinic and a wild yak disco.

Jamie,
you never fail to inspire with all your drive and energy. Keep your spirits high and remember it could be worse, you could be teaching in Durham! Will keep tabs on the rugby for you but I think it’s Ireland this year. Proud of you. x

Hi Just, colleagues and fellow penguins, We’ve been thinking of you ever since you left, and are hoping that by now you are well underway to your destination. What a fantastic experience for you and your colleague. A chance that most never get. Make the most of it. You will have some amazing memories to store and tell folk when it is 2041, and you are 72 !! And you will be working towards making a tremendous difference, we are so proud of you all.

Hi Jamie What an excellent cameraman! Though it is nice to see and hear you, I wish it could be with the excitement of the Antarctic itself. Fingers firmly crossed that you will have found a flight out by now. Good luck Bestest love Mummy

Hi Stuart - sorry to hear about the delay - hope you’re lucky at the library ! One pair of pants should last four days but hope you don’t have to wait that long for your flight! Love Mum and Dad

Hi Just
The E-Base reminds of a pitch I had at the Global Gathering, only without the penguins. Wonder what the E-Base line up would be for a 2041 Global Warming Gathering? Snow Patrol, Subzero, and the newly re-named Antarctic Brass Monkeys. Sure you can think of a few more.
All the best for the expedition.
Stay warm or be cool.

Hi Justin
It’s a lovely spring day here in Worcester! There are lots of birds on the bird feeders, they would look good with a penguin or two on them!!

EBGL 365 team - Congrats on making it this far, i am sure there will be many more trials to come but that’s what makes this expedition and what you are doing so special.
I am thinking of you all, and a little envious that i won’t be there again this year. I am sure you will love what Antarctica has to throw at you - ‘grab it’ with both hands.
Please send my love to Alejo and The Boy.
Russ - cuddles as ever.
Good luck all…
